CORE VALUES

Focus: People & Planet (Climate change)

Equity: We are committed to achieving environmental justice by addressing the unequal impacts of climate change, ensuring that vulnerable communities have equitable access to resources and protection.

Resilience: We prioritize building resilience in youth, communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure to cope with the challenges posed by environmental injustice.

Human Rights: We uphold the fundamental human rights of all people, including the right to a safe and healthy environment, and we work to protect and promote these rights by engaging in system change and action.

Community: We recognize that access to fair and affordable housing, reliable transportation, and effective water infrastructure with access to lead-free, clean water is crucial for the development and growth of a strong, healthy community.

Sustainability: We promote sustainable practices that minimize the negative environmental impacts of climate change and work towards long-term ecological balance.

Community-led Solutions: We activate communities’ power to develop and implement solutions tailored to their unique climate challenges, respecting local knowledge and customs, while addressing issues of food scarcity.

Education: We believe that education and awareness are essential tools for addressing environmental injustices and work to ensure access to knowledge and training necessary to recruit black and brown communities for local green and blue jobs.

Economics: We believe that there needs to be holistic strategies to address poverty in poor, black and brown communities by acknowledging and addressing barriers that prevent these communities from making wages for individuals, youth and their families to thrive.

Collaboration: We actively collaborate with organizations, governments, and stakeholders to address environmental injustices collectively and leverage combined efforts.

Accountability: We will hold institutions, industries, governments, and ourselves accountable for their and our role(s) in contributing to environmental injustices. We will in turn advocate for responsible practices and policies that mitigate climate harms.

Inclusivity: We value diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that all voices, especially those most impacted by environmental injustices, are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

Arts: Uplift artists as storytellers and visual communicators within and to the community.

The Pillars of Climate Action: We focus on both adapting to the current impacts of climate change and mitigating its future effects, advocating for balanced strategies. We recognize the need to address loss and damage that will continue to harm vulnerable communities the most, as such, we aim to help people that have experienced climate-related impacts.

Interconnectedness: We recognize the rights of nature and interconnectedness of all life on the planet and work to protect not only human well-being but the well-being of all species and ecosystems affected by climate change.

Intersectionality: We acknowledge individuals may experience overlapping and intersecting forms of discrimination or privilege based on race, gender, sexuality and social class. These intersections shape unique experiences of oppression. We must consider anything and everything that can marginalize people.
